My understanding is the ragwing fuel system is a derivative of the C-120/140 fuel system and has insufficient fuel flow for the C-145/O-300 engine. So a pump is required equipment for all stages of flight. (Just because a 337/field approval exists for another example of the airplane doesn't mean it was issued/approved knowlegeably.). .
This is an O-360 180hp Lycoming Avcon conversion in my P172D. The engine analyzer is an Insight G1. Fuel flow on take off exceeds 12 gph, but I don't usually watch it while I'm taking off--and usually I have the EI fuel flow meter set to fuel pressure during TO and landing. Typical climb fuel flow is around 11.5 gph, cruise is under 9.8. There are several ports in the accessory case and the ones that were being used had identical pressure, so little flow. Lycoming ... Same question but Oil Temperature Reading Low and Oil Pressure is reading High.. speed (RPM, tachometer), fuel flow, oil temperature and oil pressure, Figure 1. These gauges give very basic information about.
SureFly is a FAA certified electronic (solid state) magneto replacement. The SureFly Ignition Module (SIM) replaces one magneto - generally the left or impulse-coupled/starting magneto on most aircraft engines. 4 and 6 Cylinder SIM's are available for Lycoming and Continental engines. Replacing just one traditional magneto eliminates magneto. Re: Priming a Continental O-200, Lycoming O-320. by Edi » Tue Dec 15, 2009 2:12 am. The engine-driven pump gives fuel pressure at or slightly above the 5 psi line on the fuel pressure gauge. Same with the electric pump. Airborne_Again ESKC (Uppsala/Sundbro),. This location [on the upper/forward crankcase] will ensure that the incoming air keeps your fuel pump (and the fuel inside of it) cool. So long as you are diligent in routing an overflow hose from the pump and follow the advice of the other listers, it should work well. The rear mounted fuel pumps need this hose, too. The real secret to avoiding vapor lock is to keep pressure on it. In the high-wing airplanes, gravity feed is often enough. In low-wing airplanes, pumps near the tanks are needed to push the fuel to the engine; an engine-mounted pump pulls on it and lowers the pressure on it, which lowers its boiling point, and vapor lock becomes much more.
Darrel Starr. 05-14-2013, 10:19 PM. To install a 160hp O-320 in a Super Cub using the Cubcrafters STC, the carb required is a -32, with a straight riser. There is no advantage to a narrow deck and no particular disadvantage. Lycoming changed to get rid of the banana plates and the internal (strange) hold down nuts. The following is from a 1976 Cessna 172M Skyhawk with a O-320-E2D 150hp @ 2700 RPM. Pressure Alt RPM %BHP GPH ... but will cost you a good deal more for fuel. The O-320 operator's handbook shows a graph of fuel consumption vs RPM. The graph is "S"-shaped: [from memory] at the steep part of the curve an 8% increase in RPM can cause a 27%.

Will a Lycoming O-320 engine in a 4-place bearhawk be enough for a 4 passenger plane. As far as I know, the O-320 is only 160 HP. Last edited by Chris In Milwaukee; 01-29-2019, 02:28 PM. Christopher. All has been great since Feb 2019 and 200 hours of flight. The last few flights I have noted fuel pressure readings that are above 8 psi on the ESI 4000 especially on climb out but will start on the ground. I typically have the electric fuel pump on for climbout and have shut it off to only find the pressure drop a couple of tenths.
